Course Overview

Our Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Course provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to respond confidently to the most common workplace emergencies.

The Course also includes content required by The Forestry Commission for workers exposed to high-risk environments where there is a risk of severe cuts caused by chainsaws and machinery, crush injuries, hypothermia and Lyme Disease.

Ideal for

Ideal for high-risk workplaces with fewer than 50 employees, organisations seeking a cost-effective and practical First Aid solution, individuals needing workplace-compliant First Aid skills or as additional support to existing FAW-qualified staff. The Course gives you the skills to act quickly, safely and effectively when someone becomes injured or unwell at work.

What to expect

Successful trainees will be qualified in the role of Emergency First-Aider. They’ll learn how to prevent cross-infection, record incidents and actions, use available First Aid equipment, act within workplace procedures, and comply with legal responsibilities. All training is delivered in line with the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines (2021) and fully meets the latest HSE and ERC requirements, including dealing with haemostatic dressings and tourniquets.

Trainees will learn how to respond safely and effectively in an emergency, assess the scene, identify dangers, prioritise treatment, and manage an unresponsive casualty (including seizure management). The Course also covers essential life-saving interventions including performing high-quality CPR, safe and effective use of an AED (defibrillator), and managing choking casualties. We also teach how to treat common workplace injuries such as wounds and bleeding, shock and minor injuries (cuts, grazes, bruises, burns, scalds and small splinters).

A Regulated Qualification is available on request for roles that require a regulated certificate.
